In some provinces, employees qualify for up to eight weeks’ leave within a 26-week period to take care of a relative with a serious medical condition who is at significant risk of death. Today, some employers have other programs as well. Our advice is to check with your employer and provincial Ministry of Labour online to understand the current regulations.
